Creating an exciting and thrilling experience for your customers could be a profitable idea. But here is a list of 5 sales page mistakes to avoid like the plague. Madison Avenue Jingles. I can not stress this enough. Stay away from creating clever jingles on your website or landing pages. The last thing you need is something distracting your customers from receiving your message. Save those for the commercials if and when you ever do one. Eye Popping Flash Into’s. There are two major problems with using flash websites today. The first problem is the load time. The second is the limited usage that comes with them. What if your customers are in some remote location or even worse have no way of viewing your message on some sort of smart phone? My advice for now to save time and possibly make more money, is stay away from flash all together. Weird Sound Effects. Nothing bugs me more when I go to a webpage and I have some echoing or drowned out voices. Unless of course you operate a Halloween store or magic design shop. I might be able to understand that, but try to stay away from pops, bumps, horns, echos or other voices than the one used in your direct message. No need to worry, you do not typically see those types of web pages anymore, just do not get a clever idea to add one to yours. Animated Cartoon Characters. Yes you love the Simpson’s and The Family Guy, but you do not need them on your website. Leave those for the shows. Skits and Actors doing Voice Overs. Avoid using skit like commercials like you would hear on the radio. Nothing could be more distracting than two people talking about a sales pitch. It might work on the radio, but you are not operating on the radio. Stick to the powerful copy and have your customers doing the acting all the way to the cash register. If your goal is to increase your profits and provide a fun filled and thrilling experience for your customers, then it would be wise to stay away from using these on your sales page. No distractions, no massive loading times, no weird sound effects, cartoon characters or skits will do anything for you. What you need most on your sales page are transactions. Make the process as simple as you can.
